With Elle Milano (2004-2008)
After Crisp (lwho did lead vocals, guitar, and keyboard) and Headly (drums, keyboard, and backing vocals) moved to Leicester, UK in 2004 to study Music Technology, Chloe Dunford (bass and backing vocals) and Alex Peterson (guitar) would join them to form the band Elle Milano. They would sign to Brighton Electric in 2005, with their deubt EP releasing on April 3rd, 2006, called Swearing's For Art Students. The band became known for their large catalogue of songs that were given out through the internet and at gigs, many of which were recorded during the album sessions in 2006 that were self-produced by Crisp and Headley.
After remaining in Leicaster for the entirety of their first EP being produced and released, the band would relocate to the home of their label in Brighton. On September 11th, 2007, the band would announce the departure of Peterson through their Myspace page, with their first single as a three piece releasing on November 5th, 2007, which would be called My Brother, The Astronaut. Their second EP, Meanwhile in Hollywood... would release about 4 months later on March 30th, 2008.
Two weeks after their second EP release, Elle Milano would release their first full album on April 14th, 2008, titled Acres of Dead. June 23rd, 2008 would see the release of their third EP as 7" and digital only, titled Laughing All The Way.
The band would start a tour soon after the release of Acres, but most of their shows early into the tour would end up being canceled. With several months of silence having gone by, the band would finally break the streak of silence on October 27th, 2008, with a Myspace post. The post would detail how the band decided to split up, after a tragic death had occured in Crisp's family, as well as stating that they had "lost the magic" as a band. As a final goodbye, the band would release a 4-song EP titled Schwanengesang as a free download. Crisp would go on to create music under the Entrepreneurs alias, whilst Dunford would go on to join Does It Offend You, Yeah? The band all remains on good terms with each other to this day.
During their time as a band, Elle Milano would garner praise from the independent music press for their cynicism towards the ever-present clichés of the industry-manufactured pop culture scene and the consumerism of the information age. They would also highly criticize the British indie rock scene and student culture that they would describe as being "pretentious" and "flippant." They were able to stand out with their edgy and agular sound with a melodic pop influence, which consisted of sharp rhythms, melodic bass-lines, and vocals that were sometimes spoken, sometimes screamed or yelped.
Part of their success also came from the eccentric stage personas they'd adopt, where they'd pretend to be former models. These personas included Kobé Winona (Crisp), Mr. Alexander Ross Peterson (Peterson), Betty K (Dunford), and Jé Suisse (Headley). Kobe and Je would have their own bands, the Konsoles and the Juggernauts respectively, in which the odd track would emerge from via Myspace.
As Entrepreneurs, The Premarital Sect, The Super-Ego, FOE (2007-2012)
While producing music for Elle Milano, Crisp was also working on his own stuff under the Entrepreneurs moniker, with the first release being I Love You But I Want You To Fail, released sometime in 2007. The next release would be seen two years later, with Demos in 2009.
In the aftermath of Elle Milano's breakup, Crisp would start working with the label Stella Mortos, in which he would release a double A-side single, Hunting Roger Rabbit / Six Severed Hates. The tracks on this single would go on to be included in his next EP release, Uv Been Robbed (Joking, But Not), which was released independently on his Bandcamp page.
He would release another double A-side, Bubblegunk / Fuck Tactics, on the London label Fear & Records in 2011.
2012 would be a busy year for Crisp, as he would produce music with vocalist Hannah Lou Clark for her album, Bad Dream Hotline, under the name FOE. Not only this, but he would also master the 7" single Good Girl / Amazing Discovery for Surrey six-piece Wildeflower, become involved with the punk band The Premartial Sect, and start producing hip-hop instrumental with Ableton Live under the name The Super-Ego.. This would also be the year of his last release under Entrepreneurs, as The Florida Root Canal.
